Gilmore Girls Book Tag!

Hello, everybody! So, first off, I'm going to be totally honest with all you out there who probably love Gilmore Girls to the moon and back: I'm not that crazy about the show. Don't get me wrong, I was really into it when it first came to Netflix and I was quick to binge watch it like the rest of the world. However, my tastes in movies and shows change more often that I change my clothes and now that the hype has been non-stop for this revival, I've just been kind of ignoring it. Now, at this moment that I'm writing this post, I'm currently watching the second episode and halfway paying attention.

I'M NOT GOOD WITH TV SHOWS. I find one, watch all the episodes, then move on only to never return. It's just how it works for me unless it's Avatar: The Last Airbender or Drake & Josh. Literally only those two. I don't know what's wrong with me, I just don't like many TV shows. Anyhoo, since I'm still kind of into Gilmore Girls and I've had good memories with the show, I thought it only fitting to do this book tag created by Pucksandpaperbacks on YouTube since, well, it's still cool and I'm not late to the party for once. YAY ME!! Now onto the tag!

_________________________________________________________________

1. Lorelai: A character with a witty or sarcastic sense of humor.

Since I'm a sucker for a sarcastic character (HOORAY FOR SARCASM!!!) I have quite a few options here and it's a bit of a challenge to just choose one. But, alas, I have decided to go with the obvious character that we all know and love for the sarcasm this character is capable of: Percy Jackson. Can any character really be more sarcastic than Percy? He gives me a challenge, that's for sure. Can anyone out-sarcast (YES, THAT'S MY NEW WORD FOR THE DAY) Mr. Percy Jackson? No? Well, he hasn't met me. BRING IT.

_________________________________________________________________

2. Rory: Favorite classic.

I'm not that into classic books either only because there are so many in the world that I'm a little overwhelmed by all the options. I have read a few in the past and I do have a couple of favorites that are actually some of the first books I read as a kid and still am a fan of to this day. I use to LOVE the Walt Disney's CINDERELLA illustrated edition. It's old, falling apart at the spine but I still love it and enjoy flipping through it every now and then.

_________________________________________________________________

3. Luke: A book you secretly love, but are afraid to admit.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate Luke? He's only, like, the most loved character of the show even though he's a bit of a grump. But hey, he's honest, a little too forward with his opinions but you always know he'll speak his mind, right? Anyhoo, I'm usually not at all ashamed to admit I like certain books, especially if they're ones I just really, really loved and don't care what other people might think about me liking such a book. However, there is one book that I never admit to reading, let alone liking, and that book is VAMPIRE ACADEMY.

Before you all come at me with torches and pitchforks, let me explain. Vampire Academy falls under the category of urban fantasy which is a genre I avoid like the plague. I just CAN'T STAND books with vampires or werewolves or anything in that realm because urban fantasy books ALWAYS annoy the heck out of me! It never fails. I'm not even joking. But then Vampire Academy finds me, I read it, end up loving it, and then I shove it into the darkest corners of my brain and deny it ever happened. My brother will not let me live it down to this day. Now that that's out of the way, let's move on.
_________________________________________________________________

4. Lane: A musical character.

I've actually been labeled as the Lane of my friend group which I take as the biggest compliment EVER. My CD collection could probably give Lane a run for her money and I fully believe we are the same person in hindsight. Just saying. Anyhoo, I'm going to go with CRESS for this one. She loves singing, opera, and would probably be on Broadway is she had it her way and if Broadway was actually a thing in the world of The Lunar Chronicles.

_________________________________________________________________

5. Dean: Your first book love (character or book you first loved).

Choosing between a character and a book is seriously so hard for me. Which one do I go with? The very first character I first loved or the first book I loved? THIS IS TOO MUCH PRESSURE!! I guess I'll go with the very first book I remember falling in love with. My favorite children's book is by far STONE SOUP because I loved the illustrations, the storyline, the quirky characters, everything about it. I must have read it about a thousand times as a kid. Oh, the memories.

_________________________________________________________________

6. Sookie: A book you’ve devoured.

25064648

Sookie is the most adorable character of ever. Sorry, just had to say that. Anyway, there have been plenty of books in the past that I just couldn't put down to save my life. A few actually caused me to go to bed at ungodly hours of the late night or early morning. For this one, I'm just going to go with the most recent one that had me flipping the pages like crazy because I was so excited to see how the story wrapped up. THE READER was by far one of the best books I read this year and I NEED the sequel right now!!

_________________________________________________________________

7. Jess: A book you love, that gets the most hate.

17383918
TEAM JESS FOR LIFE. Ahem. Moving on. I'm not really a stranger when it comes to loving books that I later find out everyone hates or vice versa. I don't like a book that literally everyone and their mothers are crazy about. I'm not ashamed to love books that everyone seems to hate because we're all different and have different tastes in books and it's going to happen whether you like it or not. I honestly really love ALLEGIANT which is the final book in the Divergent series. I don't care what anyone says, IT'S MY BABY. Yes, it tore me into about a bazillion pieces, but I've read it three times and I always enjoy it more and more with every single time I read it.

_________________________________________________________________

8. Miss Patty: A book that was ruined by the hype.

16096824There's really no easy way to put this so I'll just come right out with it. That would be A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES. I actually bought the book the week it was first released and I never ended up reading it. In fact, I gave it away to one of my friends who's a HUGE Beauty and The Beast fan and when I told her it was a retelling and asked if she wanted my copy, she was more than happy to steal it away from me. She gave it a good home, so don't worry! I was honestly so terrified to read the thing because EVERYONE was going crazy over it, saying how amazing it was, how fantastic, it's the best book ever written, yadda yadda yadda. Basically, I was scared I wouldn't like it at all especially since I'm not attached to Sarah J. Maas's books yet, and I'm not a fan of Beauty and The Beast at all. I gave up on the book as a sacrifice for all the book nerds out there in the world. YOU'RE WELCOME.
_________________________________________________________________

9. Emily Gilmore: An expensive book.

I usually don't spend more than twenty dollars on a single book unless I'm desperate or something. I love a good bargain so I usually hunt for those deals like there's no tomorrow. However, I have been gifted a few books in the past few years and one of which looks kind of expensive. I bought a copy of a Jane Austen bind-up of four of her novels in a leather bound copy for about three dollars at the library. I don't doubt that someone out there paid at least thirty dollars for the book or more but I was shocked to find a copy on Amazon starting at $1600!!!!! LIKE WHAT?! I don't know if that's a legit offer but still! Yikes.

_________________________________________________________________

10. Paris: An uptight character.

9460487
Personally, Paris is probably my favorite character from the show. She gives it to you straight and doesn't have time for nonsense. You go, girl. I think uptight characters are the most fun to read about since they're more serious and have the most entertaining reactions to things when they get frazzled or overwhelmed. For me, a favorite uptight character of mine is totally Enoch from MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. He was just a tad bit uptight and a little snobby but I LOVED him because of that! He's just a little doom and gloom cutie pie!

_________________________________________________________________

So that's it for the book tag! Let me know if any of my choices were similar to yours and if you want to do this tag, THEN PLEASE DO IT!! And if you're a Gilmore Girls fan, who's your favorite character? See you guys, in the next chapter!

Stranger Things Book Tag!

Hello, everyone! So, I've recently been absolutely OBSESSED with Stranger Things on Netflix! I watched every single episode in one day, one sitting. Yes, it was rather interesting to say the very least. I recently rewatched the show a second time and am very tempted to watch it a third time because I love it so darn much! If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon for this show, please do and join the dark side! Or the Upside Down . . .

Anyhoo, let's get into the tag! Originally created by Sarah Sunbeemz on YouTube so check it out!

__________________________________________________

1. EPIC INTRO. The opening sequence of Stranger Things is amazing and really grabs your attention. Name a book that grabbed your attention from the first page.

For this one, I have two books I've read recently that grabbed my attention from the very first page which hadn't happened in a while so I was pretty excited about these two books! Nerve was such an exciting book and had a pretty good movie adaptation that I seriously loved! Gamescape is what I'm currently reading now and almost finished with and I'm so excited to have received a review copy because it's just so good.

__________________________________________________

2. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Name a fantasy world you would like to experience yourself.

Okay, Narnia will forever be a fantasy world I want to visit and will forever be my dream destination until I die. FOR ASLAN!

I would also love to visit the world of Cinder because, you know, robots. Cyborgs. Cool technology. I REST MY CASE.

__________________________________________________

3. SQUAD GOALS. When Eleven met Mike, Dustin and Lucas it was a *mostly* perfect team. Name your favorite bookish group of friends.

Do I even need to further explain why the groups of friends from these books are squad goals? Super powers. Wit. Crazy, awesome, super adventures through space, time, and the city? YES, PLEASE!

__________________________________________________

4.  ABC’s & CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. Joyce Byers goes mad with grief after Will goes missing. Name your favorite mentally unhinged character.

I seriously love Adelina from The Young Elites trilogy! These books follow a struggling hero that is fueled by people's pain and grief, making it hard for Adelina to control her powers and use them for good instead of evil. Add in the fact that Adelina lets her emotions take over her and things aren't so easy to see the difference between what's right and wrong. Basically, you need to read this series. Like right now.

__________________________________________________

5. THE UPSIDE DOWN. Name a book that was the opposite of what you expected.

I was expecting The Heartbreakers to be a fun and cute little contemporary story full of music and witty banter but what I got was a lot more which I seriously loved. It was actually a lot deeper and emotional than I thought it would be and it's still one of my favorite contemporaries I think I've ever read so far.

The Last Time We Say Goodbye was seriously SO. GOOD. I went in thinking it would be touching and maybe a slight heartbreaker but what I got was a lot more than that as well. In fact, I ended up crying for an entire hour after finishing the very last page and went to bed. I woke up with swollen eyes, a killer migraine, and I felt like my heart was still ripped into shreds. It was so worth it.

__________________________________________________

6. MAD SCIENTISTS. Dr. Brenner likes to get freaky with humanity. Name the freakiest dystopian government you can think of.

Sending kids into a giant maze to fight off bloodthirsty creatures with little to defend themselves? Having a program to have a child 'unwound' should a parent sign off on it for any reason at all? Do I really need to go on?

__________________________________________________

7.  DEMOGORGON. Name a scary bookish creature that you would not want to come through your walls.

Just based on what the Hollows look like in the trailer for the movie, I surely would never want a Hollow to pop out of my wall or ceiling or anywhere at all. Just no.

__________________________________________________

8. CLIFFHANGER ENDING. Name a book that left you wanting more.

After I finally read this book, the ending pretty much had me screaming at it like 'NO! YOU CAN'T END THAT WAY!' Long story short, I searched for so, so long, (two weeks) to find a copy of the second book in the series because I NEEDED it. I still have yet to read the sequel but I seriously can't wait to pick it up! Especially now that Daisy Ridley from Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been confirmed to be in the movie adaptation for the first book.

So that's it for this tag! Have you started watching Stranger Things? If so, comment below who your favorite character is! Read on, bookworm! See you in the next chapter!

20 Bookish Facts About Me!

Howdy, everyone! So since I've been quite busy this past week, I haven't been paying much attention to my blog which saddens me to no end. I love talking to you guys about all of the things so I thought I would sit down today to write something fun and quick so I can still chat you all and get back to work on other projects currently taking up my free time. Don't get me wrong, I'me having fun with it but it's seriously not helping me read any books.

Also, be sure to check out the original post where I stole some of these questions from! Not to mention, Cait from Paper Fury has the cutest blog ever. Go check it out!

Before I ramble on too much too soon, (it WILL happen sooner or later) let's get this party started! Que the party tunes!!
________________________________________

1. Should’ve read, like, yesterday?
I feel like my TBR is something I should've read yesterday but if we're being specific here, I'd have to go with The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak because, you know, EVERYONE HAS READ IT!! I've even seen the movie a hundred times and I've still yet to read the thing! I bought the prettiest edition of it that I could fine and everything!
________________________________________
2. Would you write under a pseudonym?
I would so love to write under a pseudonym because I just think that's so cool! It's like a secret identity or something. I could be a ninja. A BOOK NINJA! That and it's like being undercover like a spy or superhero.
________________________________________
3. Would you marry your bookshelf?

YES.
________________________________________
4. Random bookish memory?
While shopping with my brother at Barnes & Noble:
*Sees a book I didn't know was a book but saw the movie*
Me: Look! It's a book!
Brother: *Looks shocked* Oh my gosh! NO WAY! It's a book!
Me: I meant I didn't know it was a book!
Brother: Hey, everyone! My sister found a book in a BOOKSTORE! She's a wizard!
________________________________________
5. Do you own bookish merchandise?
Just a couple of things . . .

(this is just what I have pictures of . . .)

________________________________________
6. NOTP?
It's not really an NOTP but I just didn't care about which dude Katniss ends up with in the series. I haven't actually read the last book yet (*hides in corner*) but I just don't really like Peeta or Gale. (- _-)
________________________________________
7. Why didn’t I love this?
That award goes to The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski. I still can't figure out why exactly I didn't like it when I really wanted to. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
________________________________________
8. Hardcover vs paperback?
I always go back and forth with this one. Hardcover looks super pretty on a bookshelf and gets the prettiest covers, but paperback is more practical when traveling and I like the flimsiness of it. Oh, the STRUGGLES!
________________________________________
9. Where do you get your books from?
ALL OF THE PLACES!! Actually, I get them from a variety of places such as the normal ones like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Half Price Books, but I also dig around the thrift shops, buy books from the library when there are new arrivals, and do book exchanges with my friends whenever we're cleaning out books and wanting new ones. Or steal them from my brother and hope he doesn't notice (he always does).
________________________________________
10. Highly anticipated upcoming release?
THESE ONES!
________________________________________
11. Least favourite genre?
I don't know what it is about urban fantasy but I just can't stand it!! I've read at least a hundred books in that genre and not one has ever left me with happy feelings about it. I swear I always either roll my eyes many times while reading, can't stand the characters, only want to finish reading the book so I can move on to something I'll actually enjoy, or just plainly never want to see it's face again. I have so many issues.
________________________________________
12. Series you quit on?
Vampire Academy and seemingly Throne Of Glass. And once again, I DON'T KNOW WHY!!
________________________________________
13. Wish it wasn’t a standalone?
Finally, an easy one! I seriously wish Nerve by Jeanne Ryan wasn't a standalone because I seriously want a sequel of some sort. I just loved that book so much! I need more!
________________________________________
14. Cringeable reads?
I can't really think about a book that made me cringe but I guess one that puts me off every time I hear the title is The Mortal Instruments series. I didn't like the first two books for many reasons but I don't think it's a bad series, it just wasn't for me. Although, I am so in love with the covers of the Infernal Devices series because they're so pretty!!
________________________________________
15. Do you ever like villains?
Not going to lie here, I LOVE a good villain! If I can both hate them and love them at the exact same time and cheer them on as well as wish for their evil plans to be destroyed, that's one good villain and I applaud the talented author! *cough* Queen Levana *cough*
________________________________________
16. Character you relate to?
I'd say I'm a mix of Cath from Fangirl and Lola from Lola and the Boy Next Door because I love all the books, love learning and fangirling, but I also love wearing weird clothes that fit my personality and so badly want teal blue hair! Too bad I don't have a cute boy living next door to me but that's besides the point here.
________________________________________
17. Haunting Read?
172 Hours On The Moon by Johan Harstad. THAT ENDING. I legit avoided anything about aliens and space for two weeks!
________________________________________
18. How strong is your self-control around books?
Buying: Eh, do I really want this book now or can I wait and order it for cheaper? Is it something I actually might read or should I get something I know I'll read? Maybe I should look around some more and look out for other options. Maybe I should look for that one book I was really excited about . . .

Library: GIVE ME ALL THE BOOKS!!
________________________________________
19. Book That Impacted You?
I already have an enitre post talking about the book that made me a reader and made me fall in love with books and reading which you can check out HERE!
________________________________________
20. Currently Reading?
Ouran High School Host Club Vol. 6  by Bisco Hatori and Red: The Untold Story by Angela M. Hudson.
________________________________________

So that's it! I hope you guys enjoyed this post at least a little! As for all of you, I want to know a random bookish fact about YOU!! Is it something quirky and weird or something really cool? Let me know so we can be weird together! Read on, bookworms! See you in the next chapter!

The Siblings Book Tag!

Hello, everybody! Today I'm here with another fun little tag! This one was created by Soudha and her sister over at Of Stacks and Cups and I just had to chime in on this tag. Since my sister isn't able to do this tag with me, I've recruited by brother Jorge to help me out! He loves me so that's why he's helping me out today. (I also bribed him with movie tickets) ANYWAY, let's get started!

1. Name your favorite childhood book

Me: I have to say that my favorite is and forever will be Black Beauty. I remember reading it over and over again when I first discovered it at six years old when I went through a phase of being obsessed with horses. I still really love that book!

Jorge: My favorite is Goosebumps, specifically  Night Of The Living Dummy. I didn't read a lot as a kid but that series was one I stuck with.

2. Name a book you loved but which your brother didn't like

That would have to be Divergent. I recommended it to him and he did borrow my copy of the book but he only read the first six chapters before losing interest. At least he tried, though! He's not one for the bandwagon books and still hasn't read The Hunger Games but he has seen the Divergent movies so it's a process.

3. Name a character you love but which your brother doesn't like

OLAF!!! I mean, he loves hugs and Summer and he's a love expert. Now I do love my Frozen and I probably talk about it too much so I get why he no longer likes the little snowman. Sad face.

4. What are your favorite bookish habits?

Me: I like to smell my book before I read them. I know, it's really weird but I very much enjoy smelling books and getting all snuggly with them before reading the first word.

Jorge: I don't know if it counts as a habit but I buy old vintage books or just books in general but never actually read them.

5. Name a book you both hated

Me: Nothing so far has come up that we both hated. We usually read good books and we never really read the same books. I think one book I hated was City of Bones and my brother isn't too keen on the idea of the book either since we both hated the movie.

Jorge: I watched the movie, does that count?

6. What are your favorite fandoms?

Me: Divergent, Disney, Marvel, Any bookish fandom really.

Jorge: Dragon Ball and Star Wars because they're awesome.

7. Pick a book you want to steal from your brother's bookshelves

Me: I would LOVE to steal his Sherlock Holmes leather bind-up of every Sherlock mystery. It's just so pretty!

Jorge: I'd like to steal The Hobbit or LOTR from my sister's shelf.

8. What's your common favorite fandom?

Pokemon. I CHOOSE YOU!

9. Name a book you both really want to read

Nightfall by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski. It's a horror story and one thing me and my brother both LOVE is a good thriller or creature feature and anything that has a horror element.

10. Name a fictional place you'd love to visit

Me: Narnia!
Jorge: World of Pokemon because Pokemon.

11. Name a book you recommended to your brother which he ended up loving

That would have to be The Maze Runner by James Dashner. We're both really excited for the last movie and we can't wait for it! I even got my dad into the movies and he's just as excited as we are to see The Death Cure.

12. Who's your favorite literary crush?

Me: Four, Prince Kai, Prince Enzo, Klaus Baudelaire, Prince Maxon, Cricket.
Jorge: Violet Baudelaire, she's pretty cool.

13. Name a book series you were surprised to both fall in love with
Wanda The Host Wallpaper

That would be The Host but for strange reasons. We didn't actually read the book but we watched the movie because we were bored and saw it at the library and thought 'Hey, why not?' We watched it and even though we wouldn't watch it again, we created so many inside jokes for the movie that we die laughing every time we think about them. Good times.

14. Name your favorite poets or authors

Me: Veronica Roth, Marie Lu, Sarah Dessen, Stephanie Perkins, John Green, Edgar Allen Poe, Jennette Oake.

Jorge: Edgar Allen Poe, Akira Toriyama, Marie Lu.

15. Recommend some books to your brother

Me: Asylum by Madeliene Roux, 172 Hours On The Moon by Johan Harstad, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.

Jorge: Of course you'd pick a knife.

Me: Shut up, it's my turn.

I hope you guys enjoyed this tag! Read on, bookworms! See you in the next chapter! Also, let me know in the comments if you want to see more sibling posts on my blog. I think it'd be quite fun. Now if you'll excuse us, we need to dig into our candy jar.
