PROS:

1. I've been wanting to read this book for so long that I still can't believe I've actually finally read it. I got tired of seeing so many people rave about it when I still hadn't even purchased a copy. So, I finally ordered mine and read it pretty much as soon as I got it and read it within a couple of days. Before I continue to talk about how much I loved it, let me review it for you guys first. 

2. Characters. How I loved them. I thought Harper was such a feisty yet classy girl who used her brains for every situation she ever found herself in. She was very calculated as well as devoted to all things school, success and carrying herself in a respectful manner. Things did get very strange very fast for Harper once she becomes a Paladin, in a very interesting way might I add, but she tries very hard to keep her cool despite her freaking out on the inside. She's a really fun character to follow and I think a lot of people can relate to her. I also loved David and everything he had to offer as a character as well. He was funny, sarcastic and sometimes a bit of a jerk but you just had to love him. His way of keeping cool with things was just as equally entertaining to read about as Harper, their bursts of insanity coming at random with hilarious dialogue that had me smiling from ear to ear. Needless to say, I really wish this one was a movie. 

3. The things that take place in this book are very interesting to read because of things like the time period being modern day as well as the whole Paladin/end of the world aspect. I loved this book because it had a different fantasy element such as Paladins that I didn't really know about before reading this book. It was so much fun to read because of it being placed in modern day but not boring or too out of place as some modern day fantasy stories can be. It didn't drag on since there was a twist and turn every other page and with all the car chasing and combat training, it was very addicting.

4. I also loved that this book had a comedic feel to it which was refreshing. It wasn't too serious of a story nor was it too silly. It was a perfect blend of fantasy, action, contemporary and fun that made reading it such an awesome experience. I also loved the way it was written, how Harper told her story with wit and sarcasm which I fully enjoyed. This book reminded me a little of Agent Carter meets Hart Of Dixie but with magic so I highly recommend this book for those reasons alone.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was simply that the ending felt too rushed. I felt that the last chapter should've been broken down into two or three to get all the loose ends tied up with a little more detail instead of just brushing over things like it did. The story was really good but the ending was just not quite my cup of tea.

I'm still very excited to read the sequel to Rebel Belle, although I've heard that it falls flat compared to this first book so I'm a little nervous to read it. Regardless, I'll be picking up the book soon to find out what happens next!

PROS:

1. First off, can we just talk about how adorable the cover is? Okay, let's get serious. It's been a little slow for me seeing as I haven't been reading many graphic novels lately due to school, reading slumps, art projects etc. So I was very happy to find this lovely book to get me back into the reading of graphic novels and of course, I ended up finding yet another that I plan on adding to my shelf! Let's get this review started!

2. First, I want to talk about the characters. I really loved all their characters and their goofy, silly and very determined personalities. I loved that the kids viewed their science teacher as an evil genius and their art teacher as a bit of a loser whom they loved anyway. It was funny to see how bubbly and weird some of the kids where in this book (they are in middle school after all) and I loved how the science geeks and art nerds had their own ways of expressing themselves. I really loved our two main characters Peppi and Jaime. I thought Peppi was really sweet, very creative and even a little dramatic. She was a really fun character to follow and I loved seeing her deal with real life lessons about making new friends and learning to stand up for her friends and go for what she really wants. Jaime was quiet and a bit of a geek but he was the kind of best friend I'd want to have myself. He didn't like conflict and he was a bit awkward around people but he knew what he liked and didn't let people change him. 

3. I loved the story line so much because of many reasons! I loved that it talks about a really relatable subject of rivaling clubs in middle school and the subject of who to befriend and who to stay away from was very well explored in an entertaining way.  Peppi really wanted to apologize to and become friends with Jaime but things got complicated once she discovered he was part of the Science Club, the soul adversaries of her Art Club. The story line played out really well and I loved that it wasn't predictable like some can be. It dealt with two rivaling clubs that were hungry for bloodshed and tears and will go to any lengths to beat each other for the spot of being included in the School Club Fair. Even if it means all out war and sabotage. 

4. I really loved the art in this book as well! I loved how 'fun' it was and how it gave off an innocent, almost goofy, feel to the book just on its own. I really loved the colors used in the illustrations and how it was mainly muted pinks and greys with pops of bright colors in the clothing of the characters and their surroundings. I really love just staring at the illustrations which might seem kind of weird, but whatever. I loved all the detailing of the facial expressions which made me laugh most often and I really enjoyed how clear it all was and how easy it was to read. 

5. Overall, I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a simple, funny and quick graphic novel to pick up should you ever need something to lift your mood. It's tons of fun to read, even more fun to look at and who doesn't love a funny and goofy read?

PROS:

1. As if the synopsis couldn't get any better, I just didn't see why this book or even how it could possibly be not as entertaining. I found this one while randomly looking for something new to read and I was really happy to have found this one. I wasn't sure if it would turn out to be good or not but hey, it looked good at the time and I needed something to keep me busy. Here's my review:

2. I'm happy to say that I pretty much loved everything about this manga, especially the characters. I seriously loved how random the characters were and how different they were from each other. They're supposed to be the heroes of their world but they don't exactly get along and they aren't your typical evil/good doers either. If anything, only one of them is "professional" and even then, the only things he knows about being a hero is what he watched on television. It was a really fun cast of characters to read about and I can't wait to get more of their story!

3. I love to draw manga myself but I was envious of all the cool costumes! Anyway, I love manga because it can get really detailed and the narrations can get really interesting. I loved the art in this book because it wasn't too complicated and wasn't harsh on the eye. I think the art would be cool to see in color but the grey scale is a normal thing for a manga series. I loved all the sound effects and narrations in this book because they were just so hilarious! What with the "sparkle, sparkle" and the "depression", it was just so funny to read and I couldn't get enough of it.

4. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a fun manga to get into. It's a very fast read (I read it in 30 minutes) and you will not be bored while reading this one. I couldn't stop laughing and at least every other page I was dying from something a character said or did and I will more than likely be picking up the rest of these books! I can't wait to see what trouble these characters get into and how they'll go about being the "heroes" they are.

5. P.S. If you love the Power Rangers (what's 90's kid doesn't?) or just anything about super heroes, you'll love this book! Just saying.

The reason why I didn't give this book a five-star rating was simply because I wasn't feeling well while reading it. Being sick and in a reading slump? NOT a good combo!

PROS:

1. So this book has been pitched as another Anna and The French Kiss what with the whole boarding school thing but it's so much more than that. I honestly really loved this book despite how harsh people are towards it. This book made me really happy after reading it and made my reading slump a little easier to get through. This book was exactly what I was in the mood for and it helps that the cover is super adorable! Here's the review!

2. Characters. First off, I really enjoyed the main character, Grace, because she was just trying to find out who she really was and got the bright idea to escape halfway across the world to do that. No big deal. I thought she was a very realistic character even though she was in a little bit of an unrelatable situation what with her father and brother being incredibly famous. She still had her issues though and didn't want to be treated like someone special. She pretty much wanted to just live a normal life where no one knew her or her family. I also fell in love with the side characters such as Grace's roommate Sophie. She was very bubbly and not shy at all really. I really enjoyed the other characters as well even though I would've loved to see more of them throughout the book. And of course, can we just talk about Jason for a second? Talk about swoon worthy!

3. The next thing I loved was the writing. It was simple and sweet and the descriptions weren't too complicated either. I really loved how everything played out and how it went so smoothly together even though Grace encounters some bumps in the road as she tries to survive her first semester in a new country thousands of miles away from everything she's ever known. I honestly thought it was just such a fun read and I can't wait to pick it up again in the future! Katie M. Stout is an author I will be keeping my eye on!

4. Overall, this was just a really sweet, funny and touching story about finding out who you really are as well as facing your demons and learning to let things and even people go. I pretty much wanted to cry once I read the last page just because I didn't want it to be over. Once again, this book may not be that great to other people but personally, it was exactly what I was in the mood for so I think that helped me to give it a higher rating. If you loved Anna and The French Kiss or Starstruck then I say give this book a go! Just don't let all the lovey dovey feels fool you! There's quit a shocking revelation that I honestly didn't even suspect. But maybe that's just me.

PROS:

1. Now a quick disclaimer is that I too didn't LOVE the first book in this duology however at the time, I still really enjoyed it because it was what I was in the mood for. True, it wasn't exactly a masterpiece but I gave it a four star rating because despite how annoying some of the characters (one, to be more specific) I still really liked it and I was really excited when the news came out that this book would get a sequel. I've been wanting to read it ever since I bought it and now I finally got around to doing so. I was in a reading slump when I started reading this so that might've affected mt rating on this book. Now that we have that portion out of the way, here's the review!

2. The first thing I want to talk about is the characters for a few reasons. (1) Lara Jean wasn't exactly the most mature teenage girl in the world but then again is any teenage girl? Be honest! I loved that as her character develops in this sequel, you can really see how much she's grown up and matured from the previous book. She's less winy and doesn't want any drama in her life. Sure, she's still not perfect but I really love her character in this book a lot more. (2) The other characters such as Kitty, Peter, Margot even and Lara Jean's dad all really go through some amazing development as well. I feel like Kitty just got a lot sassier and really became her own person, and made me wish she was my little sister! Obviously we all know that Peter isn't exactly the most humble of characters but I still loved seeing him grow up a little too. In the first book, he's somewhat of a jerk, not going to lie about that, but in the book, you really see that he's still a good guy. And I'm not one to like the jerks just so you know. Even Margot moves on with her life in college and just wants to focus on what the future holds instead of crying over a boy. Their dad, I feel, got a little more spotlight as he became a little aware that his dating life isn't exactly the best but hey, he's learning!

3. The story line played out wonderfully in this book as well! I was really impressed when I first saw the reviews for this book on Goodreads and how amazing they were. Most of the reviews for the first book consisted of one to five star reviews, nothing amazing. But for this one, most of the reviews I saw were all four to five stars. People were raving about how much better it was than the first and how it took a complete and surprising turn. Needless to say, I was more determined to get to this book faster than I first intended. The story really did impress me in a way that it went from a fun, light-hearted read to a more serious and even a bit of a melancholic one. Lara Jean definitely had to go through some ups and downs and had to deal with bullying, gossip and losing and making friends and why being in love for the first time- no matter how complicated- is so amazing. I think this book was more of a relatable story and I would so love to pick up this book again!

4. Overall, I think if you liked the first book, you'll more than likely love this sequel! Some even loved it more and that was my case. Even if you didn't really care for To All The Boys I've Loved Before, I would still recommend this book, but of course that's my opinion. I was satisfied with how everything ended between the characters and how the book wrapped up and I honestly kind of want a third book. Also, this book was a lot funnier. Multiple times I burst out laughing and couldn't stop. If you're not afraid of looking like a weirdo by laughing at a book like me, then have fun with this one! I even tabbed my favorites!

Sadly, I've been battling my reading slump since May and it hasn't been easy. I was able to fight it off and escape the slump in June, but for the last two weeks of July the fight was back on and I went down hard.

1. I'd seen this book many times over the years but for some reason just never picked it up. A friend recommended this book to me at the bookstore one day and seeing as it was on sale for one whole dollar, I decided it couldn't hurt to check it out. I finally picked it up about a week ago and I ended up really liking it! I hadn't read a Meg Cabot book before even though I've seen all the Princess Diaries movies so I'm definitely going to be picking up more books by her soon. Here's the review:

 

2. The characters in the book I pretty much fell in love with from the first page, which is often the case with a Meg Cabot novel from what I've heard. I really loved Emerson because she wasn't the typical high school girl. She was tomboy who didn't get the whole celeb and teen gossip magazines and especially didn't get the whole fashion appeal that so many girls get hooked on. I loved her friends and her family, especially her little sister Frida, and I really loved the character development of all of them. Em slowly becomes more confident in her own skin- well, almost her own skin- and she also learns what it truly means to lose someone you love as well as makes new friends and realizes that not everything and everyone is as they seem.

 

3. The writing in this book was so humorous and lighthearted while still having a bit of a serious topic. It's more mysterious and a little darker than what Meg Cabot usually writes but it was just as great. I loved how easy it was to read without the story being so detailed to the point of it being boring and slow going. It was fast-paced and kept it consistent to the end. 

 

4. Finally, overall, I was satisfied with the book. It was funny, interesting and had a sci-fi aspect that was a bit weird at first to me, considering that this book is a chick lit but it ended up blending well with the rest of the story. I loved that it was funny, kept me hooked to what was happening and had the perfect amount of romance that wasn't too much for everything else that was going on. It was a really sweet read about family and friends and I highly recommend it!

 

The reason why I didn't give this book a five-star rating was because I just didn't enjoy it as much as I would've loved. I can't quite put my finger on the reason why but it might've just been because of the fact that it took me so long to read it since my schedule has been pretty busy lately. It took me almost a full week to finish this book and I'm sure the time period just altered my overall thoughts on this book.

Review:

PROS:

1. I've been hearing about this book for months now and had no idea that this book was in fact becoming a movie and that's why pretty much every teen was reading it. I was finally able to find a copy of this book and read it just in time before seeing the movie. Here's the review!

 

2. I really appreciated that this book was written for teens by a teen. Kody Keplinger, at the time, was only 18 when she wrote this book and I feel like that gave the book a stronger sense of understanding among teens. I really liked that the author was able to capture realistic and relatable feelings of not fitting in, feeling insecure and being confused as to who you really are. I really connected to the story in those ways.

 

3. I also liked how this book was also more of a deeper contemporary. The characters in this book were far from perfect which, again, is very realistic. They all had their issues and insecurities that they were all dealing with and tried their best to do so.

 

4. Lastly, I really loved the message of this book. The characters, especially Bianca, had to deal with bullying and struggled to see the true beauty of themselves. I really loved how this book teaches readers that in a way, we're all "Duffs" but that it doesn't mean that we're not beautiful, it just means we're not perfect.

 

CONS:

1. I really liked the characters in this book but I had a hard time connecting with them the way I wanted too. I thought Bianca was sarcastic and hardheaded but I still felt she was a little flat. Same thing with Wesley, Casey, Jessica and the rest of the characters. I just thought they all had so much potential to have really great character development but didn't quite have enough for me.

 

2. I also didn't really care for the first half of the book. I found myself getting bored easily and had to force myself to keep reading to see if the book got better, which it did about 100 pages in. I also had to force myself to read through Bianca's irrational and infuriating decisions that I just couldn't wrap my head around. I enjoyed this book overall but it isn't something I'd pick up again.

PROS:

1. If you know anything about the book community on social media and YouTube, you have probably more than likely heard of this book and know how much hype surrounds this book, especially since the sequel is coming out later this year. After weeks of waiting to read this book, (my TBR is HUGE) I finally got to pick it up and I have to say, I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did! Let's get started with the review!

 

2. The characters in this book were so adorable and loveable I just wanted to jump right into the book and have them be my own friends. They were so different in personalities but they went together so well and made an entertaining group of friends. I fell in love with Lara Jean's character for many reasons. I liked how she was very quirky and a little socially awkward which in my case, I related to a lot. She also had to grow up a little faster after her sister leaves for college and she's left alone to take care of the family, including her sassy and feisty little sister Kitty. I also loved how Lara Jean, even though she wanted to be with someone, cared more about her family and friends than being in love. She was just a girl who wanted to find out who she was exactly and focus on the people she loved the most.

 

3. The romance in this book was nothing short of entertaining. Lara Jean and Peter were very sarcastic with each other as well as goofy and even though they didn't get each other most of time, it was funny to see them try. I also liked the romance between Lara Jean and Josh. They had chemistry but didn't really know how to deal with it, considering they were close childhood friends and didn't want to lose each other. That's right people, this one has a major love triangle!

 

4. The character development was absolutely fantastic! I loved getting to know them all and see what each character was like, even the side characters were well developed in just a short amount of time. Some characters were funny, some were sassy, some were smart, and some were just plainly and clearly the bad guys but you still loved them a little. I'm excited to see how the story progresses in the sequel and see just where everyone ends up and what happens next!

Where did that phrase ever come from.

 

Review:

PROS:

1. If you're looking for a funny, romantic and just all around feel good novel that still deals with real life issues, you've come to the right spot! This book was so lovely to read that I had a hard time finding just one thing I didn't like about it. Let's get on with this review shall we?

 

2. I seriously loved the characters in this book! I really loved how the main character, Louise, was just an average girl who was dealing with a lot of insecurities that young girls today (including myself) deal with on a daily basis. I felt she was incredibly relatable and I loved how she dealt with things in a way that seemed real, like a real person going through something and dealing with it the best they can. I also loved Finn, cute funny and sweet as well as the other characters such as Louise's friends, Fran and Chelsea.

 

3. I also loved how simple the book was without being cheesy. I loved reading it because not only was it relatable but it was also easy to understand seeing as everyone understands what it's like to be insecure about themselves for whatever reason they find. It was short but at the same time satisfying and I seriously wanted more of the story!

 

4. I really loved how this book made me laugh many, many times throughout the book even though it was a more serious story. It was very inspiring but also had so many comedic moments that I really enjoyed reading!

 

5. Lastly, I freaking loved the plot twist of this story! It was so mind-blowing and I really didn't see it coming at all. It was surprising as well as heartbreaking and it was just so good. The ending of this story wrapped up so well and was also a hopeful ending and might I say, left some room for maybe a sequel? *hint hint*

 

Age Recommendation: 13+
