Top Five Favorite Pixar Movies!

One thing I love more than books, coffee and music are Pixar movies. I just can't get enough of them but then again, who really can? I think that everyone's list of favorite movies contains, at least, ONE Pixar movie. I'm a HUGE Disney fan and I will literally squeal in public when I see merch from one of my favorites. So, since I'm a Disney freak, I thought I'd share my top five favorite Pixar movies with you guys! I do have my least favorites so let me know if that's another post you'd like to see! So without further ado, let's get started!

Going in no particular order:

1. Big Hero 6

Not only is this one so funny, but it's probably the cutest Pixar movie I've ever seen! No lie. I was so excited when this movie first came out that I just had to see it on opening day like I always do with pretty much every Disney movie that comes out. I absolutely love anything and everything that has to do with Japan or China, I'm just very intrigued by their culture, so I was over the moon for this movie. Of course, it got really depressing within the first five minutes of the movie but it's such a fun story about friendship and family filled with tons of adventure. I just love it!

2. Inside Out

Okay, this one is pretty darn cute too. I just love this movie because it shows how emotions are really important when it comes to making up your personality. It was so much fun seeing the emotions get into some pretty serious trouble and how they went about trying to fix their problem with not so good outcomes. This movie is just such a neat concept and I love how it tells the story of a little girl growing up and how she deals with being homesick, making new friends and how hard it can actually be on a kid. I related a lot with Disgust since she's sarcastic and because the internet told me so on a few different quizzes. Which emotion are you?

3. Wreck-It-Ralph

This movie takes place in video games, a world made of candy and has awesome characters. Need I say more why this one is one of my favorites? This movie is such a good one because it's all about friendship and what really makes a hero.

4. Toy Story

Of course, there has to be a classic one on this list. I grew up on Toy Story even though I wasn't alive when the movie came out but it still had such a special place in my childhood and I got so excited when the third movie came out. I think only Toy Story can bring teenagers to tears when a new sequel is announced. I mean, if you've seen Toy Story 3, you know which scene brought us all to tears. And I NEVER cry in movies! I'm so beyond excited about Toy Story 4 but also a little sad knowing it might be the last installment. Either way, I'll be watching these movies for years to come!

5. Ratatoullie

I love this one because it takes place in Paris, a city I've always wanted to visit. It also follows a rat who desperately wants to be a chef, something I wouldn't mind being either. I've always wanted to learn how to cook amazing dishes and baking only counts for so much. This movie really inspires me now to want to look up some recipes and cook up some of them to further expand my menu. I love baking pastries and different cakes and desserts like White Cake, German Chocolate Cake, Snickerdoodles, Caramel Nella Cookie Crunch (what I like to call it ;) and I even came up with my very own chocolate cake recipe after not being completely satisfied with some of the recipes I was finding. I call it Dauntless Cake but I would love to make a dish that Remy would be proud of.

So those are my top five favorite Pixar films! I have so many other favorites but these are ones I just can't seem to get enough of and I watch them more often than any other. So what are your favorite Pixar films? Let me know in the comments because I would LOVE to know!

Review: A Frozen Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick

A Frozen Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick

Rating: PG
Genre: Fantasy
Score: ❤❤❤❤
Stand Alone
Page Count: 304

Told in alternating chapters from both Anna's and Hans' perspectives, A Frozen Heart takes a sophisticated look at events of Frozen, exploring the couple's backstories, motivations, and doomed relationship.

Review:
PROS:
1. Coming from a lover of Disney and a girl obsessed with anything and everything Frozen, I couldn't not pick this book up for myself when I ran into it at the store back in October. No way. Long story short, I finally got around to reading it and I was so excited to read a story I know I already loved. I adore book-to-movie adaptations so it was new to have a book that was the reverse of that. Reading a movie in book form? Sign me up! Watching the movie and reading the book version were very different experiences with some similarities so I'm pumped to tell you about it. Here's the review:

2. The first big difference with reading the book was the fact that we get to see way more of the story told from Han's point of view. I loved that part of the book since in the movie, most of the story follows only Anna and Elsa. In Han's POV, we get to see the events that play out that allow Hans to visit Arendelle and also get an insight into his plan to steal the throne. We get to see the way he thinks as well as see his actions while he's in charge of Arendelle while Anna and Elsa are gone and the intentions that transpire as Hans comes up with a way to secure his spot on the throne. It's all very interesting and it gives him a lot of backstory that we don't see in the movie.

3. A lot of the book is, of course, identical to the scenes in the movie but there were some new scenes that were really fun to read, such as Anna and Kristoff's first meeting and getting prepared to go up the North Mountain and even what Anna was thinking and feeling while frozen as a statue. It was pretty interesting to read those new scenes as well as get more backstory on Kristoff, even though not much backstory is given but it was still nice to read.

4. Reading the book was also fun because you already know what the characters look and sound like so imagining their journey is quite simple to do. even with the new scenes and material. One of my favorite things was getting a few questions answered in the book that the movie kind of skipped over. I won't say which questions were answered exactly but it did resolve some things, especially how Anna's childhood was really like with Elsa locked in her room most of her life.

The only things I didn't like about the book was that it felt a little more rushed in book form. It could be because of the dual POV's making the story feel that way since technically there are two stories playing out but it could also be because the story maybe just wasn't meant to be a written one. Some books are better suited for the screen and vice-versa but this one is a bit iffy for me. I did enjoy reading it rather than watching the movie for a change but I would honestly pick the movie over the book for this one. Now isn't that a first?
I'm still a very big fan of Frozen and Disney and will forever be one, there's no quitting that. But I want to know what your favorite Disney movie is. So, what is your favorite and would you like to see that story in book form? Let me know in the comments!

The Disney Princess Book Tag!

Hey bookworms! Today I'm going to be doing The Disney Princess Book Tag created by the lovely lady Soudha from Of Stacks and Cups which you click the link to go to her blog and check out her original post for this tag! I LOVE Disney movies and of course, Disney Princess! From Mulan and Cinderella to Elsa and Belle, I just them all! So let's get on with the tag!

1. Snow White-Name your favorite classic.

I really love Black Beauty because of so many reasons! For one, it was the first chapter book I ever read by myself when I was 5 years old. I fell in love with the characters and most of all, Black Beauty himself. I was just fully immersed while reading this book and must've read it twice a week, I'm not even kidding about that! This classic story about a girl and her horse is a timeless story about friendship and devotion amongst a pair of friends who's only differences are a snout and hands and feet.

2. Cinderella- Name a book that kept you reading well past your bedtime.

I couldn't put this third book in the Lunar Chronicles down to save my life! This book, Cress by Marissa Meyer, had me reading well past the time I normally go to sleep because I just had to marathon the last 200+ pages to find out what happened and how it ended! Before I knew it, it was almost one in the morning when I finally finished the last page of this glorious book. Needless to say, it was worth it!

3. Aurora- Name your favorite classic romance.
I have to make a confession, I've yet to read a Jane Austin novel. I know, I know, shame on me! But, so far, Jane Eyre has to be my favorite classic romance of the moment. It's only one of a handful of classic romances I've read but I still count it as my favorite so far. I just loved the characters and the classic romantic elements in this book so much. Sometimes, you need a little bit of more conflict and struggle in a romance novel and this one was just that!

4. Ariel- Name a book that's about making sacrifices and fighting for your dreams.

I chose The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen because this book is about a small town girl who has such a bright future ahead of her and everything she could ever want. Her parents want so much more for her than what she already has but when things start falling apart for her, she discovers that everything she has might not be everything she wants after all. It's a great story about making sacrifices and finding your adventure and most importantly, realizing who you really want to be.

5. Belle- Name a book with a smart and independent female character:

I chose Violet Baudelaire from the Series Of Unfortunate Events series because even though she struggles to protect her siblings from the evil Count Olaf, she's also very smart and ready to take charge whenever she's called to it. She's also determined and very inventive and I just think she's such an awesome female protagonist. I loved her throughout this series and I'm super excited to see her character come to life in the TV series!

6. Jasmine- Name a book with a character who challenged the social conventions of his or her world.

I chose Johnny Ross for this one! On Beale Street by Ronald Kidd is about a young boy growing up in the 1940's-50's when the country was still divided by race. Johnny befriends an up-and-coming singer named Elvis and with his other friends, he fights to unite people by music or more specifically, rock and roll. I think this is a very touching and a very moving story that will forever be one of my favorite books!

7. Pocahontas- Name a book whose ending was a roller-coaster of emotions.

Not only is this book a roller-coaster of emotions from the first page but it has one of the most beautiful endings I've ever read. The ending is so hopeful, heartbreaking, beautiful, witty and just wants to make you cry tears of both joy and sadness. I seriously love this book so much and the ending was just everything.

8. Mulan- Name a book with a kick-ass female character.
I just had to choose Tris for this category! I loved her character in Divergent because I thought she was a girl who seemed weak and fragile but decided to prove everyone including herself that she's capable of a lot more than they thought. She just becomes this very strong and almost fearless character that didn't shy away from danger.

9. Tiana- Name a book featuring a hardworking, self-made character.

I think Kestrel from The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski falls into this category very well. Kestrel is a very independent young woman that struggles to be the daughter her father wants her to be while also staying to stay true to herself and help to lead her country in the war. She's a very hard working character and I think she also puts her family and friends first when making decisions and sacrifices.

10. Rapunzel- Name a book that features an artist.

I chose Karou for this one! She's a very talented artist who draws the most beautiful pictures of these fantastical creatures people think she thinks up herself. She's a very unique character who has a secret part of her life she hides from everyone she knows and takes her sketchbook wherever she goes. Needless to say, I want to be her!

11. Merida- Name a book that features a mother-daughter relationship.

I chose to go with All Fall Down by Ally Carter because our main character, Grace, is on a mission to catch her mother's murderer. This book touches on the type of relationship Grace had with her mother and it shows sweet memories, a very close and sweet relationship between Grace and her mother and she'll do anything to catch the man who killed her mother and bring him to justice. It's a very exciting and fast-paced book that I think matches the excitement of Merida.

12. Anna and Elsa-Name a book that features a great relationship between siblings.

I chose the Chronicles of Narnia series because the Pevensie siblings have an unbreakable relationship with each other. They make sacrifices for each other and think about each other when problems arise. I just love how their able to band together and never abandon each other when things get rough as they have to fight wars, battles and take down their enemies.

And that's it for the Disney Princess Book tag! If you want to do this tag, please feel free to do it and make sure to credit Soudha if you do this! Read on bookworms! See you in the next chapter!
